Preventive Medicine and Recommended Screenings

Many of today’s health concerns have a preventive component. Being proactive about your health and keeping up with routine screenings is always a good idea. Don’t wait until you are sick to reach out for help. Getting your recommended screenings based on your sex and age can help detect disease early and increases your chances of survival.

Make sure you have the proper vaccinations, get your blood pressure and cholesterol checked, and complete the recommended cancer screenings such as a mammogram for breast cancer and a colonoscopy for colorectal cancer. Talk to your doctor about the preventive tests and screenings recommended for your sex and age, or visit cdc.gov for more information.

Annual Wellness Visit

The purpose of an annual wellness visit, or yearly exam, is to update or create a personal healthcare plan specific for you to prevent illness and keep you healthy. You and your doctor will review your current health and risk factors and develop a plan that’s right for you. Children especially need annual visits to ensure they are growing properly and getting their immunizations.

Pediatric Care

Keeping the entire family healthy begins with the littlest members. Advantages to taking your children to a family medicine provider include:

  • Continuum of care: Our providers are trained to provide care to infants, toddlers, adolescents and adults, so there’s no switching doctors as your child gets older.
  • Convenience: One provider treats the entire family, so if you and your child are sick, you can see the same provider.
  • Familiarity: The provider may be aware of family health issues that could affect your child.

Follow Up Care After ER Visit

If you were recently treated at an ER, your ER doctor may have recommended that you see your primary care doctor for follow up to help speed your recovery. Contact your doctor to receive follow up care.

Other services we provide include:

  • Physicals (sports, general and DOT)
  • Annual women’s exam
  • Chronic disease management
  • Smoking cessation
